Automatic control system (ACS)

ACS (-/YYY) SAU4 is an automatic control system designed for automatic control of controlled shunt reactor (CSR) inductance by means of semiconductor converters (SCs) which form the reactor bias current for the purposes of stabilizing the voltage in high-voltage (35 to 500 kV) power network or for compensating excessive charge capacity of power lines; for preliminary biasing the reactor and ensuring dynamic modes; and for switching the reactor to idle mode in case of emergency or overloads, or for smooth CSR inductance control in manual mode.

According to the above purpose, ACS is capable of performing the following:

  • CSR inductance automatic control within the pre-set limits for the purposes of stabilizing the voltage on sub-station buses
  • Ensuring CSR current manual control mode through step-wise delay angle change by SC thyristors
  • Automatic maintenance of the pre-set value of reactor power winding current
  • SCR switching from automatic to manual control mode and back
  • Indication of mode parameters, control set-points and complex circuit condition
  • Alarm in case of overload and damage in SC converter
  • CSR power winding current overload control with subsequent automatic power limitation and alarm
  • Converters overload and overheating control with subsequent power limitation and alarm
  • Converter thyristor control checking
  • Implementation of control actions from external protection and automation devices
  • Ensuring SCR preliminary biasing mode

Electromagnetic compatibility

On electromagnetic compatibility trials, ACS device withstands the application of the following test impacts in accordance with A functioning class criterion:

  • Electrostatic discharge under GOST R 51317.4.2-99. Contact discharge voltage is 6 kV. Air discharge voltage: 8 kV
  • Electromagnetic field of 80-2000 MHz frequency under GOST R 51317.4.3.-99 for the whole item. Intensity within 80-1000 MHz frequency range is 10 V/m. Intensity within 800-960, 1400-2000 MHz frequency range is 30 V/m
  • Nanosecond impulse interference under GOST R 51317.4.4-99 to DC and AC supply circuits through coupling-isolating device: 4 kV; to input-output circuits, control ports 2 kV through capacitive coupling clamp
  • Microsecond impulse interference under GOST R 51317.4.5-99 to DC and AC supply circuits through coupling-isolating device, with wire-wire circuit 2 kV, with wire-earth circuit 4 kV, to input-output circuit screen 2 kV
  • RF voltages under GOST R 51317.4.6-99, to DC and AC supply circuits through coupling-isolating device 10 V; to input-output ports 10 V
  • Magnetic field of 50 Hz frequency under GOST R 50648-90 the whole item. Long-term intensity 100 A/m, short-term intensity 1000 A/m
  • Pulsed magnetic field under GOST R 50649-94 the whole item. Intensity: 1000 A/m
  • Decaying oscillating magnetic field under GOST R 50652-94 the whole item
  • Decaying oscillating impulse interferences under GOST R 51317.4.12-99
  • Single interferences to DC and AC supply circuits through coupling-isolating device with wire-wire circuit 2 kV, with wire-earth circuit 4 kV
  • Repeated interferences to DC and AC supply circuits through coupling-isolating device with wire-wire circuit 1 kV, with wire-earth circuit 2.5 kV
  • Conducted interferences under GOST R 51317.4.16-2000 DC and AC supply circuits through coupling-isolating device up to 100 V
  • DC voltage ripple 10% under GOST R 51317.4.17-2000 generated in DC supply circuit.
  • Alternating voltage of 2 kV under GOST 30328-95 between independent circuits, between circuits and the casing for insulation testing
  • Pulsed voltage of 5 kV under GOST 30328-95 between independent circuits, between circuits and the casing for insulation testing
  • DC supply voltage dips and interruptions under IEC 61000-4-29, 30% - 1 sec, 60% - 0.1 sec, voltage interruption 100% - 0.5 sec
