Tral Parking 2 is a portable boom barrier control device that operates by recognising licence plate number images received from a video camera.

Boom barrier lifting signal is generated if the recognised number matches the one contained in the database stored on a USB Flash drive connected to the device. If reliable recognition is not possible due to condition of the number plates, the boom barrier may be opened in the standard way, i.e. using a RFID card, radio remote control or a push button. Tral Parking 2 registers the passing vehicle’s picture, date and time in any event. A 1 Gb flash drive allows to store about 50 thousand access images.

The images taken and the database containing the access list of vehicle licence plate numbers can be accessed either by removing the USB Flash drive and connecting it to a PC, or by directly connecting the recorder to a PC or a NetCore Parking viewer using a LAN connection. It is important to mention that a PC or a NetCore Parking terminal is needed to configure the system or view the stored pictures only.

Automated parking lots access control with Tral Parking 2

Licence plate number recognition device Tral Parking 2 allows to automate access to parking lots, public garages, residential territories, etc.

Unlike the conventional systems, where the boom barrier is opened by reading a RFID card or a radio remote control command, a system based on Tral Parking recorder does not require that you buy and, consequently, have to manipulate any such “keys”. If a vehicle licence plate number is recognised and is on the access list, this is enough for access to be given. On the other hand, the system will not open the boom barrier to a vehicle which number is not on the list.

Vehicle access control system based on number plates precludes unauthorised access possible in case if a dishonest user passes the card or the key fob to a driver whose vehicle is not allowed to access.

The offered automated access control system based on number plates consists of a portable licence plate number recogniser Tral Parking 2 and a CCTV camera. As a vehicle approaches a closed boom barrier, it reduces its speed and comes in view of the video camera. Then the recogniser isolates the licence plate number, recognises it, compares it to the numbers on the access list and decides whether the boom barrier should be lifted.

In addition to licence plate number recognition and boom barrier control, Tral Parking 2 always takes a picture of the passing vehicle and registers the time of each lifting of the boom barrier. This is particularly important in cases of the boom barrier being lifted in the conventional way using a card or a radio remote control.

A removable USB Flash drive is used to store pictures of passing vehicles and licence plate number databases. This data can be accessed either by removing the USB Flash drive and connecting it to a PC, or by directly connecting the recorder to a PC or a NetCore Parking viewer using a LAN connection.

It is important to mention that a PC or a NetCore Parking terminal is needed to configure the system or view the stored pictures only.

Due to its small dimensions and extended operating temperature range, Tral Parking 2 recorder may be installed directly in the water-proof housing of the camera or inside the boom barrier support.

Parking Control software

The Parking Control application allows to control Tral Parking recorders remotely, view video camera images, remotely control the boom barrier and view/edit the access list of vehicle licence plate numbers and the access registration table.

Online View

Tral Parking 2 online view

The Online View mode allows to control Tral Parking remotely.

Each fact of recognition is registered in real time in the access registration table, including:

  • date;
  • time;
  • recognised number;
  • movement direction;
  • match with the access list.

The picture of the vehicle is also updated, together with the recognition result.

If the picture is registered by an external command, the "o000oo00" string is stored instead of the number, together with the "Barrier was opened by hardware" comment – if the boom barrier was opened using a push button, a controller or the "Open barrier" software button.

The access registration table may be saved to a hard drive of the PC as a file using the "Save" command for further manipulation in the "Archive View" window.

Two windows are used to display camera images updated each 1-2 seconds.

Archive View

This tab displays the history (archive) of operations executed by Tral Parking.

Access registration table (access archive)

Access registration tables may be loaded from previously saved files or directly from Tral Parking recorders using a LAN connection.

The table contains the following fields:

  • access date and time;
  • recognised/unrecognised number in the "a123bc45" format. The "o000oo00" string is stored instead of an unrecognised number. If only certain characters of the number are unrecognised, such characters are replaced with the "#" character, e.g.: "a123b#18";
  • movement direction: "Entry" or "Exit";
  • whether a number on the access list is matched: "Admitted" or "Blocked";
  • whether access is granted or not: "Allowed" or "Prohibited";
  • comment taken from the access list;
  • key: this field is intended to record the key used to open the boom barrier.

The maximum number of records in the access registration table is up to five hundred thousand.

The application allows to view, sort and save the contents of the table.

The default name for the table is "Access archive"-"First access date"-"Last access date".

Any data can be easily found using the filtering function.

Allowed licence plate numbers table

Tral Parking 2 licence plate numbers of allowed vehicles table

The application allows to view, sort and save the contents of the table. The table may be loaded from/saved to a file or a Tral Parking recorder using a LAN connection.
